Examples of Success
- Represented a surgical oncologist is a state case alleging lack of informed consent and a failure to obtain appropriate surgical margins in a patient diagnosed with invasive papillary carcinoma. After a two-week trial the jury found that the patient had been properly informed of the risks and alternatives to the recommended course of treatment, and that the surgeon had properly performed surgery.
- Represented a hospital and multiple nurses in a federal case involving an adverse reaction to medication causing the patient to suffer respiratory distress that required emergency resuscitative measures. The patient claimed that she suffered an injury to her cervical spine and shoulder as a result of the code, and that she suffered permanent visual deficits. The hospital was dismissed on a motion at the beginning of trial and the nurses were found to have met the standard of care in their collective treatment.
- Represented a nurse in a surgical case involving a claim of improper positioning resulting in permanent injury. The case was complicated by a Court ruling that shifted the burden of proof to the defendants to exculpate themselves from the case. The represented nurse defendant was found to have proven her compliance with the standard of care and a verdict of no cause of action was entered.
