He handles a wide variety of matters related to complex civil litigation, primarily focusing on professional-liability defense, medical-malpractice defense, personal-injury defense, disciplinary and licensing issues, and healthcare-related matters. Mr. Petraske is certified by the New Jersey Supreme Court as a civil-trial attorney, a designation less than 3% of New Jersey attorneys obtain. To achieve this certification, an attorney must be a member of the state bar in good standing for at least five years, engage in regular continuing education, demonstrate substantial involvement in preparation of litigated matters, prove he has an unblemished reputation through a substantial compilation of character references, and pass a comprehensive written exam.
Mr. Petraske has also received external recognition for his outstanding practice, including frequent inclusion on the list of “Super Lawyers,” which is compiled by New Jersey Super Lawyers magazine. No more than five percent of attorneys in the state achieve this level of recognition. First named a “Rising Star” by the magazine in both 2006 and 2007, Mr. Petraske was then selected to the Super Lawyers list in 2009, 2010, and 2011. Since 2014 and continuing through the present, Mr. Petraske has made the list of Super Lawyers every year.
A frequent and sought-after speaker, Mr. Petraske has delivered lectures on a wide range of topics related to civil litigation, professional liability, and the defense of medical-malpractice cases. Mr. Petraske also served as barrister of the Mercer County American Inn of Court from 2000 to 2006. A member of both the New Jersey State Bar Association and the Somerset County Bar Association, Mr. Petraske sat on Montgomery Township Planning Board as a member of the Site Plan Committee from 2005 to 2008. He also served on the township’s Zoning Board of Adjustment from 2004 to 2012 and its Transportation Advisory Committee from 2002 to 2006.
